As you grow into your global trade adventure it may become important that you bring in-house a lot of the services that the Global Trade Department can offer. To assist you on this part of your journey, we are pleased to offer a comprehensive training plan to build your internal skills. Not only can we help you with achieving those skill we are still available to help fill in the gaps where needed with our comprehensive consultancy and ‘Hands-on Support’ packages.

Customs training courses

So, you want to export, but where to start? This hald-day training course covers the essential aspects of exporting standard and non-standard goods. Covering export documentation, origin and acceptable proof, export licensing, SPS certification, Incoterms, and working with freight partners and fast parcel operators. This course if perfect for export sales, contracts, shipping, and financial staff and management.

So, you would like to access overseas suppliers to reduce costs and/or benefit from a wider range of products. This half-day training course covers the essential elements of importing both standard and non-standard goods. Focusing on import documentation, SPS certification, importing under preference, Incoterms, customs valuation, duty/VAT payment. This course is perfect for procurement, contracts, shipping, and financial staff and management.

The Customs Declaration Service (CDS) is HMRC’s eagerly anticipated replacement for its longstanding CHIEF platform, managing import and export declaration data and integrating with other Government systems. This course delivers a detailed, step-by-step guide to completing import and export declarations via CDS, as well as how to derive value from the wider system, and how to validate data input on your behalf.

HMRC offers a range of facilitations and simplifications to reduce the administrative, duty, and tax burden on global traders. This full-day course explores each one in detail, including Inward Processing (IP), Outward Processing (OP), Authorised use, Temporary admission, Customs warehousing, Returned Goods Relief (RGR), and ATR Carnets. Importantly, this content also includes the use of correct CPC codes on declarations and maintaining documentary evidence.

Often misunderstood and mis-used, these 3-letter acronyms are essential in the global trade of goods; the implications of using them incorrectly can be costly and lead to compliance risk and acrimony between buyer and seller. This one-day training course provides a deep dive and comprehensive overview of Incoterms® 2020, including how and when to use them and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Certain export goods have restrictions on them, amongst these are military and dual-use goods, and protected works of art. Dual-use goods cover a broad range of products so the need for export licenses is widespread. This full-day course explores export controls in detail, highlighting which products are impacted, the licenses required, how export controls vary globally, and a step-by-step guide to applying for an export license.

Sustainability and global trade

Increasingly the work GTD undertakes involves helping SMEs, UK and overseas, navigate the complex and rapidly developing world of sustainability regulation. The team have developed a specialism in this area, and have a wealth of resources consultancy, training, and technology based. 

In addition to Global Trade Sustainability Assessments, the GTD Platform is also extending to provide Digital Product Passports (DPP) to enable clients to comply with the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, as well as other global variants o the regulation.
